Welcome to AMA Seniors Stride
The AMA Seniors Stride was born from a simple yet powerful vision: what if we could combine our community's commitment to healthy aging with our Islamic duty to care for the most vulnerable?
In 2025, this vision becomes reality as we launch Ottawa's first senior-focused charity walk supporting orphaned children worldwide.
Our Story: Where Faith Meets Action
About AMA (Assunnah Muslims Association)
Since 2004, the Assunnah Muslims Association has been a cornerstone of Ottawa's Muslim community, serving families through religious education, community events, and social support. Located at 1216 Hunt Club Road, our community center has hosted countless gatherings that strengthen bonds and foster growth.
Our commitment extends beyond our walls. Through initiatives like the AMA Seniors Stride, we demonstrate how Islamic values of compassion (rahma), community (ummah), and charity (sadaqah) translate into real-world action.
Creating an Inclusive Event: Built on Islamic Values, Open to All
While rooted in Islamic principles of charity and community care, AMA Seniors Stride welcomes participants of all backgrounds. We've thoughtfully designed our event to accommodate diverse needs:
For Our Muslim Community:
Separate registration heats to honor modest preferences
Halal food options and prayer accommodations
Programming that aligns with Islamic charitable giving (Zakat and Sadaqah)
For Everyone:
Inclusive categories and route suitable for men, women, and all mobility levels
Multi-generational activities encouraging family participation
Cultural bridge-building through shared commitment to helping children in need
Why We Champion Orphan Care
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this," putting his index and middle fingers together. This profound teaching drives our initiative.
Through your participation and donations, we're not just supporting individual children – we're building a network of care that transforms entire communities. Every dollar raised provides:
Educational opportunities for vulnerable children
Healthcare access in crisis zones
Safe housing and nutrition support
Hope for a brighter future
